The Helix is on DCU’s Glasnevin campus at The Helix, DCU Campus, Collins Avenue, Glasnevin, Dublin 9, Ireland, D09 FW22. The venue was inaugurated in October 2002.

The Helix is about a 15-minute walk or a 12-minute drive from Almanii B & B. The campus location is a useful reference when checking directions, since the venue sits within DCU rather than on a separate street address.

How do you find The Helix programme?

How do you find The Helix programme?

The Helix’s official What’s On page is the place to check its current programme and event details. Each listing has a “MORE INFO” link, with show dates and show-time information on the event details.

Before choosing a performance, open its individual listing and confirm the time and any event-specific information. Details can vary between events, so use the listing for the show you plan to attend. Check the official site before you go.

How do tickets and entry work?

How do tickets and entry work?

Ticket prices depend on the event, and tickets for Helix events can be purchased through TheHelix.ie. The Box Office also handles in-person and phone purchases Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 3.00pm, at +353 1 700 7000. It opens 1–1.5 hours before scheduled performances for ticket scanning only.

Booking fees depend on how you buy: online and phone bookings incur a €3 fee per ticket, capped at 10 tickets, while in-person Box Office bookings incur a €1.50 fee per ticket. The venue asks patrons to arrive no more than 1 hour before the scheduled time printed on the ticket.

Tickets are non-refundable unless a performance is cancelled. If a show has more than one performance, you may be able to move a ticket to another date by giving at least 5 days’ notice; this depends on seat availability. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and age categories may vary by show promoter.

Getting to The Helix

Getting to The Helix

The venue is on DCU’s Glasnevin campus, so confirm your route to the campus and the venue entrance before setting out. The venue’s visitor information does not provide a bus-route list or detailed public-transport directions; check current transport information if you plan to travel by bus.

If Dublin Airport is your arrival point, you can plan that separate transfer with how to get from Dublin Airport to Almanii B & B before making your way to the campus.

If you are travelling by coach or arranging a group drop-off, note that there is no designated bus or coach parking within the DCU grounds. Dedicated passenger drop-off and collection points are at the venue entrance.

What should you know about parking and access?

The Helix has a multi-storey car park opposite its main building, with spaces for over 900 cars. Parking spaces cannot be pre-booked. The venue says parking costs €5 for a full day; the charge can be paid at the Café Bar and shop on the night of a show.

The car park accepts card and contactless payments, and €5 prepaid car-park tickets are available at the Helix Café Bar to speed up departure.

Dedicated accessible parking spaces are close to the entrance, and the car park is monitored by CCTV 24/7. The venue also has double-door access to all venues, wheelchair-accessible toilets, a lift to all levels and a set-down area outside the main doors.

Wheelchair seating is available on the ground floor in both Mahony Hall and The Theatre, with a limit of six wheelchair positions in Mahony Hall and two in The Theatre.

Call the Box Office at +353 1 700 7000 to book a wheelchair position, and contact the venue in advance about access needs. Guide dogs are welcome throughout; if you are attending with a guide dog, notify the Box Office before booking.

There is no cloakroom or bag-storage facility, and large bags are not permitted in the auditorium. One small bag is permitted if necessary. Photography and filming are allowed in the foyer, but not in auditoriums or during performances unless otherwise stated. E-cigarettes are not allowed anywhere in the Theatre, including the auditorium and foyer.

The Café Bar is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.00pm, and also opens on Saturdays and Sundays when a show or event is taking place that day. What to know about Ellenfield Park can help you plan a separate stop.
